Tuition Policies and FAQs
How is tuition billed and when are payments due?
Families on a monthly plan will pay tuition through Tuio, an online tuition platform. Once you’ve added your preferred payment method, invoices are sent out on the 1st of each month, and payments are automatically processed on the 4th.
If you’ve chosen a semi-annual or annual plan, payments can be made by check, wire transfer, or QuickBooks invoice. These are due on the dates listed in our tuition schedule.
What happens if my payment is late or fails?
If a payment is more than 10 days past the invoice date, it will be considered late, and a $10 late fee will be added for each day the payment remains unpaid.
If a payment fails for any reason (such as a card issue or bank error), we’ll reach out as soon as possible to let you know and help get it resolved. If there are active issues with payment processors and families are proactively working with the school to resolve we do not charge late fees.
Who do I contact if I have billing questions?
Email our admin team at accounting@slope.school.
Why am I being charged more than my tuition amount on Tuio?
If you're seeing a higher total than your tuition invoice, it may be because you’re paying with a credit card. While there are no fees for using an ACH (bank transfer), credit card payments include a processing fee. This fee depends on the type of card used.
Slope School doesn’t collect this fee, it goes directly to the payment processor. Once your payment method is added in Tuio, you'll be able to view a detailed invoice that shows both your tuition and any applicable processing fees.
My family has a vacation planned where our heroes will miss several weeks/months of school. Are we responsible for tuition even if my children are not attending?
Yes, your family is required to pay tuition even when attendance is not full time. While we don’t reduce tuition for extended absences, we have had success setting up alternative plans to ensure heroes can continue their learning while away.
Can I send my hero part-time?
Spark Heroes who are younger than kindergarten age can be part-time with a minimum attendance of 40% (equivalent to 2 full days or 4 half days). Families may choose for their Hero to attend fewer days, but the 40% rate remains the minimum billing amount and reflects our experience in how much time heroes of this age need to get the most out of being part of the Slope community.
All Heroes in kindergarten and older are expected to attend as full time students.
Are there any additional costs to consider?
No! Studio materials and excursions are included in tuition. For older studios we may ask that heroes fundraise to cover part of the cost of their trips. These amounts are set appropriately to be achievable - parents are encouraged to help their heroes brainstorm and plan fundraising activities but not to directly contribute.
Discounts, Financial Aid & Scholarships
Does Slope offer any discounts?
Yes! Families who choose to pay tuition annually or semi-annually receive a 5-10% discount.
In addition, families who are members of the Kol Ami congregation at our Millcreek campus also receive a 10% tuition discount as part of our ongoing partnership with the synagogue.
Does Slope offer any scholarships?
In the past we have funded a small number of scholarships and strive to continue to do so. We encourage families who are looking for financial assistance to apply for the Utah Fits All scholarship (see details below).
What is Utah Fits All (UFA)?
The Utah Fits All scholarship (UFA) is a state program that provides up to $8,000 to Utah K-12 students through an education savings account (ESA). We have had many Slope families apply with success and use these funds to offset the cost of Slope School. Please refer to the UFA section below for more information.
Unenrollment
What if our family needs to unenroll mid-year?
Please provide 45 days notice prior to your hero’s last day at school. For families who pay monthly we will apply your family’s deposit to their last month’s tuition. For families who pay annually or semi-annually we will provide a refund based on their last day of school.

UFA FAQs and Details
What is UFA?
The Utah Fits All Scholarship is a new state-funded program that provides up to $8,000 per year for K–12 students in Utah. The scholarship is designed to support families who are choosing education outside of the public school system.
Who can apply?
To be eligible, your child must:
Live in Utah
Be in grades K–12
Be enrolled in a qualifying private school
How does UFA work and how do we apply?
Families apply for the Utah Fits All (UFA) Scholarship directly through the program (more information can be found here). Applications usually open in March for the following school year.
If awarded, families can receive up to $8,000 per child enrolled at an approved private school like Slope. The scholarship funds can be sent to Slope and applied towards tuition.
Have other Slope families successfully received this scholarship?
Yes! Many families in our community have received UFA funds and used them toward their tuition at Slope.
Can I send UFA funds to myself?
No — the funds don’t go directly into your bank account. Instead, they’re added to a secure online portal (managed by UFA), where you can use them for approved educational expenses. If you’re using the funds for tuition at Slope, you’ll be able to send payments directly to us through the system.
How will tuition work if we’re using UFA?
Annual Payments:
If you’ve already paid for the year in full, Slope will reimburse your family as soon as UFA funds have been received.
Semi-Annual Payments:
UFA funds will be applied toward your second semester invoice. If there are any unused funds after that, we’ll issue a reimbursement for the remaining amount.
Monthly Payments:
UFA funds will be applied to your account once they are received. Regular monthly billing will continue until your total tuition is covered. In most cases, this means you’ll continue regular monthly payments through the fall, with a final adjusted invoice in December once UFA funds have been fully applied.
Still have questions about UFA?
No worries — this is an exciting but still very new program, and we're all learning together.
There’s a dedicated Slack channel where Slope families can ask questions and learn from others who have already navigated the UFA system. Slope is also happy to help when we can.
For more detailed information, including the official handbook and customer support, you can visit the UFA Scholarship website.
